IMS Health Foundation

Health. Outreach. Education.

The IMS Health Foundation seeks to extend healthcare to those in need and to promote health education in our community.

The Foundation also focuses on our youth by awarding an annual scholarship to a high school student pursing a professional healthcare degree or medically related career in the allied health profession. In addition, the Foundation intends to provide medical disaster relief, both domestically and abroad.

HAITI EARTHQUAKE RELIEF
As part of its medical disaster relief objective, The Foundation is proud to announce that Dr. Grant Padley, an IMS physician with Valley Orthopedics, recently volunteered his time and talent in Haiti. Dr. Padley spent a week in Haiti, through Loma Linda University's satellite hospital, performing critical orthopedic surgeries on the Haitian earthquake survivors. Here is an excerpt from an email he sent:

“…It is 8:45 P.M. here.  Just finished a femur case in the OR. We have 10 more cases tomorrow, as we do the ones we can then put the others on the next day.  The hospital is in good condition and we do have some AC to sleep in. There are little kids running around in underwear, amputations… Patients laying in halls waiting for surgery.. Pre and post-op "rooms" are tents outside.  Family members just huddle over their loved ones to fan them and keep away flies. This country is worse than media can even cover.  The pictures do no justice, and the people can't really start to clean up since they have no way to do so.  These kids seem to have no hope and yet come up to you with beautiful smiles saying "Good morning (no matter what time of day), and please give me money..."

This country has a big uphill battle ahead of them and there are a ton of great volunteers and the people are appreciative of us even if they can't say so. Met some great U.S. Marines who are in the area checking on things…more later….”

The IMS Health Foundation has additional IMS physicians waiting their turn to travel to Haiti to provide medical relief. Any donations made to the Foundation with 'Haiti Relief' written in the memo line will be given to Loma Linda University Hospital for needed medical supplies. To date, the IMS Health Foundation has donated $3,000 to Loma Linda University to support its volunteer medical staff and medical supplies & equipment in Haiti.

HEALTH FORUMS

On December 5, 2009, the Foundation held its 1st Annual FREE Health Forum at the Avondale Wal-Mart Supercenter. The public had an opportunity to receive free health screenings and advice from medical experts. Click here to read an article that appeared in the West Valley View outlining the  Foundation's objectives.

For future free healthcare forums, check back here often to find out when the next  one will be held.

The IMS Health Foundation also helped to organize a physician town hall meeting with Sen. John McCain on November 23, 2009. Arizona physicians had an opportunity to ask Sen. McCain questions about health care reform. Dr. Troy Anderson, the founder of the Foundation, was fortunate to introduce our Senator to the audience.
